Whittier traffic court is heard in Department 1 and can get extremely crowded.   The line for the traffic clerks window is often a several hour wait.   The Whittier courthouse does allow walk in appearances but only on certain days and at certain times and the schedule seems to always be changing.   If you are denied a same day appearance and you need one, ask the clerk to give you a “golden ticket” so that you can be first in line the following day.   Whittier court follows the genius LA county traffic court system of “wait in giant line to get into court, wait in court, see judge for 12 seconds, then wait in giant line again to pay huge fine”.    We aren’t sure who invented this system, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Walt Disney was a consultant in the process.  Or perhaps it was the California DMV.  It was definitely someone with an eye for inefficiency and high cost.
